I’ve setup firefly using a howto that installs mt-daapd and Howl.

With this I get two servers showing in iTunes.

I must of missed it in the docs, but going by post here it would appear that firefly has a built in mDNS.

Would this be the cause of 2 servers showing?

Can I turn the builtin mDNS off?

    Regards,
    William.

Yup. Just run it with the “-m” option in your startup script. That should do it.

    Great thanks.

Is there much difference between mDNS’s ?

    William

Not really.. if you have other devices that use multicast, it makes sense to use howl instead of the built-in one, that way you wont’ be stepping on any toes.
