trying to get itunes to work with firefly on whs help pls:-/

hi 🙂

i’ve installed firefly on the whs console that has all my music files in the “music” folder.

now when i open itunes on one of the clients i can see firefly ion the left, but when i try to access is it just has ‘loading firefly media server” at the top but then nothing happens?

i’ve pointed firefly to d:/shares where all the files are.

i also have tried using the addin but still no luck there.

any tips on trouble shooting guys?? or wheres best to start looking bearing in mind i’m a noob

Recently put firefly on my WHS too. I’m no expert.

I pointed firefly at D:SharesMusic (rather than d:shares)

Then I think you need to do a scan – I used remote destop to access the firefly tray config icon on the desktop of my headless WHS.

The tray config is great for displaying logs about what firefly is doing

Then open the web interface (from the config window) and you can force it to do a scan. Should see something like ‘added 123 songs to library’

Think you are probably really close as your itunes have found firefly.

Is there any clue in the logs? can you copy and paste them here?

Also is firefly set up to look for and stream the file type of your music – it’s another config option you can find from the tray icon.

Also and apologies if this is obvious in your first post you wrote d:/shares

it really should be d:sharesmusic

and it all seems pretty similar except for the version number – I’m running 1696, your is 1586.

Maybe worth trying the version I’m using? It’s on the site under ‘unstable builds’ which isn’t too encouraging but it basically worked for me.

Alternatively head over to the microsoft WHS software forum and ask for help – there seem to be some people over there recommending and using firefly.
