Hi, I’m trying to get firefly working on Ubuntu 7.10. I installed it using apt-get, which gave me SVN 1586. I’ve set my music directory and ran a database scan. I can see the server from iTunes on my Windows PC, and it gives me a list of songs. However these songs all have the filename as “Name” and “continuous” as length, and no other data. Trying to play them doesn’t work. (nothing starts, and iTunes shows an Exclamation mark).

All the songs are mp3’s, however they are on an NTFS partition (from when I tried WHS). I set runas = root (which I know is bad) in order for firefly to be allowed access.

I’m very new to linux and don’t really understand things like services etc (/etc/init.d/mt-daapd doesnt seem to control mt-daapd that is running?) so it’s probably something very basic 🙂

Also in terms of the linux filesystem, were do you put things like music and files that services and all users have access to?

    Thanks
    Alex
