svn 1571 Windows: some flac files not playing

Hi,

I’ve installed a fresh new xp machine running Firefly svn 1571.
When trying to play flac files, some are playing and some are not. Dont have a clue why this is happening. Here’s a part of the log:

I did some investigation myself and found out that svn 1571 doesn’t play flac files which were encode with reference libFLAC 1.1.3 20061120, at least not on windwos xp.

Older version 1.1.2 and before are played. So I guess it has something to do with that.

No problems playing Flac 1.1.2, 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 on XPSp2, svn 1571.

Well I reencoded the file with version 1.1.2 and then it plays. I reencoded it with version 1.1.4 and it doesn’t play. So it has to do something with that.

Version 1.1.2 and older flac files are played.
Version 1.1.3 and newer aren’t. At least at my machine., which is xpsp2 as well.

I’ve updated libflac to 1.1.4 on the nightlies, but I’m not sure if that will affect ffmpeg. I may need to update that, so I’d like to hear more reports on tonights (?) nightlies.

I’ve downloaded the new nightlies (1586) but still the same problem. FLAC files encoded with 1.1.3 and newer are not playing.
Do I need to install something els beside firefly and bonjour to make it work on xp? Some codecs or so. It’s a pretty standard installation without extra’s I’m using.

The rest seems to work fine with version 1586. Keep up the good work.

flac 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 work on my 1568 XPSP2…

I could send you a tiny sample 1.1.4 file that works on my system, so you can check whether it depends on the files or the system…
