Stream .m4v?

I see a lot of off hand mentions to this but I can’t seem to find instructions on how to set it up. I’ve got 2.4.1 on Ubuntu Hardy and it works perfectly for audio but I’m getting limited results with video. Video files show up in the iTunes library successfully but when played I get nothing – no audio, no video (in the album art window or otherwise), no progress on the timer bar. When I stream to Rhythmbox on Ubuntu 9.04 I get the video’s audio but not image.

Any tips on how to get this work, how to debug it, suggestions for other ways to accomplish the same thing, etc would be much appreciated.
