Songs not showing up in Shared Library

Hi, I just started using Firefly off my ReadyNas and I’m having trouble getting all my songs into the the iTunes shared library. I copied the songs that were on my wife’s Mac and my PC to the ReadyNas and then ran the scan. The scan picked up over 22600 songs, but missed about 3000 from what I can tell. I don’t know if this makes a difference but the songs that don’t get into the library all have a hidden file associated with them of the format ._track number file name.mp3

I changed the log debug level to 9 to see what was happening and from what I see, the files are actually being scanned and it looks like they are being added, but then I don’t see them in the shared library on iTunes. I’ve tried comparing a file that successfully uploaded with one that didn’t and I see that for the one that didn’t, it doesn’t seem to pick up on Title Artist and Composer. But that’s all I really noticed. I’m copying here the log of both one that worked and one that didn’t.

Any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated!!!

The difference I can see between the songs:
The one that did make it into the library is tagged perfectly.
The one that didn’t make it, isn’t tagged at all.

I believe Artist and Title are the most important tags. Maybe then it might work.

The problem is that if I look at the song in iTunes on the original computer, the tags are all there associated with the song. So for some reason, Firefly is not able to pick up the tags…. Does anybody know why?

Ok, I finally found the songs. They were loading but because they were missing most of the tag information, it wasn’t easy to find them. I guess iTunes will build the tag information for songs like these based on file name and directory structure but that doesn’t get exported out. So I’m going to see if I can use a batch tag editor tool to update the songs with missing tags.

I don’t know much about iTunes, but f.e. Winamp has an auto-tagger using the Gracenote Music Database. It analyzes music and retrieves (full) tag information from the database. This way I tagged about 10 albums in a minute or two.

Thanks, I’ve got some 2,000 songs to tag, so I’m using TagScanner. Using a music database to catalog all those songs would have taken too long, so it is currently going through and tagging the songs based on the file name and directory structure. It’s working out well, but it takes a while to process everything.
