    Follow up—

the log is reporting a permissions error when it tries to scan the mp3s

the folder and directory for the mp3s as well as all the files are set as 777 nobody:nobody

If it’s not a permissions error on the mp3 files, it’s possible it’s a permissions error on the directory the database is in (/var/cache/mt-daapd) or on /tmp.

    thanks ron:

I found it — i am running it as root, as it was kicking about running it as nobody — that seems to have solved the problem
