Since RSP and DAAP are quite different in layout, i suspect the usage of searching/browsing the Firefly server is different. Until now, i’ve written most my application by creating a DAAP parser, but in the end i’ve found the protocol quiete limiting on search/query constraints. On the other hand, connecting to SQLite directly is much faster, gives less hassle and is straightforward, but doesnt implement an data transfer protocol for remote application connectivity.

Who favors what method and why!: DAAP, RSP or direct SQLite.

    Thanks,
    Tony

Accesing SQLite directly isnt very future-safe. The DB backends might change, and SQLite might even begone completely.

RSP was specifically designed to overcome DAAPs limitations for the RoKu Soundbridges. So to that respect it probably has some advantages.
