I have been struggling to get my Roku Soundbridge connected to the Firefly Media Server for hours. I finally found a way to get it to work. Seems that Roku also needs the 3689 TCP port (iTunes)?

(PC connected to Siemens Gigaset SX551 router with LAN, Roku connects on wireless network, Firefly setting is just on normal 9999 port)

iTunes and Firefly were both unblocked in the firewall settings but this 3689 TCP port seems to be the key? Why? Does Firefly also run or use iTunes in the background or something?

I’m a bit of a newbie by the way, so sorry if these question are annoying.

Firefly uses, and has always used, port 3689.
I have no idea how you get the idea he uses port 9999…

The windows version of firefly uses port 9999.
On BSD, *IX and whatnot however, it’s always been 3689.

Also, please bear in mind that we just talk about the default port here. Of course you can always change it to whatever port you like.
