The Server is a regular x86 PC with a Creative Audigy and a common speaker sound system.
It`s connected with 3.5 mm audio cable.03/05/2008 at 8:35 AM #16954stretchParticipantA quick Google search of the web http://itunes-remote-control.qarchive.org/

No, iTunes isn’t and should not running on the (Fedora 8) server. iTunes is running on the client.
I just want, that the music files are played on the server where they are physically located, but I don’t want to be physically in front of the server to change, skip, mute, fast-forward or rewind the songs, thats why I tried to use Firefly.
Roughly speaking, my Apple Macbook should be an overpriced remote control.
But as far as understand Firefly is just for playing songs on a clients hardware -> streaming, not for remote control of a servers music.
Any suggestions?

Try Googling it 8)
It took all of 30 seconds to find the iTunes remote & a version that controls WMP & WinAmpFirefly is just a server, there are music players that can be added to it but their web based
Your other option would be to buy a SoundBridge & shove the server somewhere out of the way 😉03/05/2008 at 10:31 AM #16957fizzeParticipantIf you’re talking Linux here, then there are a ton of options how to shove an audio stream across a network.
You can use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPD_%28Music_Player%29 for instance. What you are maybe interested is having something like an AirPort, which can be remote controlled thru iTunes.
