    mt-daapd/Firefly Version: mt-daapd-0.2.4.1
    Server Operating System: Xubuntu Gutsy
    Server Hardware: Dell Latitude D620

I have my music on an external hard drive. This drive is auto-mounted by xubuntu with the permission drwx

so only root has rwx permissions. I believe that i need more permissions for mt-daapd to read my files, but I’m not sure what, any advice? I should mention that I don’t know how to change these mount permissions currently.

    Thanks,
    Eric

    (eschulte:/media )sudo mt-daapd -f
    Starting rendezvous daemon
    Current database version: 8
    Starting signal handler
    Loading playlists
    Initializing database
    Starting mp3 scan
Error scanning MP3 files: Permission denied
    Aborting

alright, fixed, I just had to figure out how to mount with the correct permissions

Just for completeness, I’ll post what I added to my /etc/fstab

    # attempting for premissable ONE external harddrive
    /dev/sdd1 /media/manual auto umask=022 0 0
