I’m experimenting a bit with the Mac Version of Firefly as I’m probably switching from Linux to Mac for my Music Server.

So I dragged over my whole iTunes archive from the Linux box to my Quad and installed Firefly 1.0b3 on it.

When I connect to Firefly from my Powerbook it takes 2.5 minutes and during that time Firefly uses one Core of the Quad almost up to 100%.

If I connect to the same library on the Quad via iTunes 7 it takes 12 seconds and there is almost no load on the CPU.

Hmm, probably have to rethink the switch ….

    I have to add:

It has something to do with the iTunes 7 XML file. If I remove it, connection time goes down to 3 seconds.

    Huh, very private thread πŸ˜‰

    So lets close it.

Installed SVN-1376 on the Quad and the problem is gone. πŸ™‚

If you were using 1313, yeah.. it’s got major problems. I’ve asked the roku guys to post 1359 instead, as 1313 is very broken, but I think they are too busy working on iTunes 7 fixes. πŸ™‚
