    mt-daapd/Firefly Version: 1.0 svn-1696
Server Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit
Server Hardware: PC Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9400 2.53GHz, 4 GB RAM
Client Device: Roku Soundbridge v 3.0.44, iTunes 8.0.2.20 for Windows,
Connection of clients: Win through router (connection working)
Firefly shows in Soundbridge and I can connect, but no songs or playlists visible. The Firefly from my old PC is still ok in my Soundbridge. Back in april 2007 I had a similar problem, I think, and then rpedde helped me to fix some unicode-issue (Swedish å, ä and ö). Could it be the same problem?
Log shows the following: Log file: firefly.log

The log file clearly states it found 0 songs. I doubt all songs include such swedish characters, so I think there’s another problem which causes 0 songs to be found.
As you’re running firefly on windows, permissions shouldnt be an issue. Did you point firefly to the correct music directory?

Firefly on Windows Vista 64 and I´ve checked that I´ve pointed to the right music directory. Because my firefly on my old PC (Windows XP) works alright, I don´t think it has anyhing to do with my firewall (?)

I’m blaming the UACLs in Vista. Check the user that firefly runs as, and then make sure that user has the correct permissions.
On *IX thats easy to check – no clue how to go about that on Windows though.

So the mp3_dir in the config file doesn’t contain special characters?

In the web interface config under “Music Folder” I see “C:UsersM????rten ForssellMusic” where the “?” should be another hieroglyph (I can’t find the right one on my keyboard) and it has replaced the Swedish character å.

Sorry but can you explain what you mean with “UACL” so I know where to look?

My log file, at debulevel 9 looks like this:

As you can see here, Mårten Forssell is cut down to M. That’s why no music can be found. I’m not too familiar with fixing strange characters.
A simple workaround would be to rename the dir to a name without unknown characters? But that probably still wouldnt fix songs with the same characters…

Thanks for the workaround, it worked. But now I have another problem. I don’t see any playlists, only songs. Any suggestions?

Check your configurations on the adminpage(advanced config) or config file:
    Process playlists: Yes
Process m3u files: Yes (if necessary)

UACL = user access control list.
In short: the enhanced security caps that everybody (well, almost everybody) disables in Vista because they are very annoying. 😀

Anyway, it seems the permissions and whatnot are alright, but instead you have to fight with internationalization issues. What filesystem is your music on? NTFS?

My music is on NTFS and after I changed the path to my music everything was OK in Firefly.

    This bug affects me too.

    I’m using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic and mt-daapd 0.9~r1696.dfsg-13build1

No files in medialibrary with Japanese characters in filenames:(

Sorry, the problem was in my new paranoic ACLs:) All works fine.
