Heres the deal, I have followed all the steps of installing the mt-daapd on my NLSU2, its all healthy checked from the logfile
Also configured the rules on my home network
    for ports 5353 3689 TCP/UDP Access to the NSLU2

Now I come to work and launch iTunes & then click open Stream and key in my :3689
windows dialog comes up for login and pwd, i enter the creds and then iTunes keeps on Connecting and returns with nothing….

    what am I doing wrong?

My objective is to see my home playlist on my iTunes at work.
I have contacted the IT Dept and they have confirmed there is no firewall rules going out?

    TIA

Voila, Download and install Rendezvous Proxy did the magic

Correct. Firefly broadcasts over the (local) network as a shared iTunes library. However, when remote, you need rendezvousproxy to broadcast a remote firefly as local.

Care to explain to a n00b a little.. I don’t understand… why one needs for firefly to advertise it self when the client machine already knows the address of the server? What is it that Itunes still need to know?

    Thanks

Edit: After setting this up I understand the problem. The problem exists with Itunes only. If you use firefly client there is no problem.
