    Hello ,

My NSLU2 with Debian ( problem is with Unslung also ) works very good with my SB1001, but wenn i start Itunes 7 and go on my Firefly server it takes very long until i see my Music ( 4 min. and longer ). I have 10k files.Without Smartplaylist only 30 sec.

I have make my Playlist in Itunes on my WindowsPc and copy the “iTunes Music Library.xml” file in my root Directory from my shared songs.

/media/usb1/mp3, on my XP PC in E:datamp3

    what can i do?

    thank you

depending when you bought your slug, you can de-underclock it to make it faster 😉

Other than that, there isnt really anything you can do.
iTunes pulls ALL playlist data off an iTunes share before it can start playback.
This is just very very hard on the slug.

Maybe you can get rid of some (large & complex) playlists?

You can just use the playlists.html link from the web interface and time what playlist takes the longest until its fully loaded.

    hello

    ok, i found it /playlist.html.

every Playlist load in IE takes about 3-4 sec. its not bad i think.

well, 30 times 3-4 secs, that all ads up to a nice delay.
I also dislike the way iTunes acts. Rhythmbox seems much easier there. 😉

I think right now, That’s The Way It Is ™.

I’m going to be refactoring the db and playlist stuff soon. As soon as I integrate in the stuff in the private svn I’m working on now. I’m mostly done, hopefully another few days and I’ll have a really unstable nightly to drop, and once that stables up, I’ll start owrking on the db and playlist refactoring, which should speed stuff up a lot.
