    Hi Guys

I’ve got a Soundbridge for Christmas and I’ve set it up and loaded Firefly, but the server won’t start. My icon in the bottom right hand corner of my screen just stays on red and won’t change to orange. I’ve gone inot the configuration setup and clicked on ‘Start’, but then get a message saying ‘Failed to start media server’.

    Any thoughts?

I;m not to technical when it comes to IT so please bear with me. I have Firefly version 1 running on Windows XP. My iTunes is version 8.

Also, I’ve tried to download the stable updated software, but my PC can’t find anything to open it with. The file extension is not one that is recognised.

    Thanks for your help.

Do you have a RoKu or Pinnacle branded SoundBridge?

Did you try to go to firefyl’s web config panel? it should be located at http://localhost:9999 on windows.
You might also be lucky at http://localhost:3689

If you can access that, then firefly is running. If you can’t, you might want to check your config file and set the music directory to the folder where your collection is located BEFORE you attempt to start firefly.

I had same issue. After checked the event log and saw the error “Error in config file on line 1”, I copied the original mt-daapd.conf to Firefly Media Server directory and solved the issue. The problem here is Firefly cannot parse configuration file contains ^M charactor.
