file location, same filesystem?

In the mt-daapd.conf file, it says:

    # mp3_dir (required)
    #
    # Location of the mp3 files to share. Note that because the
    # files are stored in the database by inode, these must be
    # in the same physical filesystem.

What does this mean? I have my music files in a separate drive, and it does not seem to matter. I guess I’m just curious.

Maybe I should not worry about problems that I don’t have. 🙂

By “same physical filesystem” I think he meant local drives.
Not anything from VPN or network drives.

It depends on which version of Firefly you’re using.
0.2.4 couldn’t have the library scattered across multiple HDD’s and the inode comment dates back to that version.
AFAIK, that comment is no longer applicable for the more recent builds of Firefly
