This may be a bit of a newbie question (’cause that is what I am with regard to Firefly). Really like the software and works very well with my Soundbridge but I am not sure about adding music to the database. I’m using the Windows version.

If I create sub-folders in the music folder (artistalbum) on the server running FF and copy the mp3 files in … so say c:musiccreamdisraeli gears … and then scan using Firefly, it only adds them if it recognises the album (the example above works fine). If however I rip a CD from a local band that is unknown outside our village and do the same, then nothing gets added.

I’m sure I am missing a trick, but need someone to point out where.

    many thanks

Bit sad answering my own query 😳

Found the answer (IP3 tags) … for those new to this stuff (like me) this is what I have used:

    Works fine.

    Try Mp3tag – it’s a lot more powerful 😉
