12k songs but 100 or so won’t play in iTunes

When I try to play these songs, albums really, the mt-daapd server logs a streaming message but iTunes won’t play it and shows an error icon after i move to a different tune.

All my music is mp3 format, everything from 192k to 320k, fixed rate and V0 etc. These songs are not unusual in that regard and they play with Amarok on my local Linux server.

I’ve tried everything from a web interface complete rescan to moving the files around and restarting the server. I”m at a loss to figure this out.

Is there a way to check the DB entries with a simple front end? There must be some persistent wrong path in the DB. Ideas?

I’m guessing invalid (at least for iTunes) metadata.
Something like foreign Characters, invalid UTF, etc.

Try to fix the metadata with mp3tag or any other metadata-app and then rescan. It will pick up the changes.
If you’re really verbosive, then crank up the loglevel to 9 before you hit that rescan button.
