The problem was my ID3v2 tags after all – about 5,000 of my tracks had somehow lost the album info, though it was still ok in the ID3v1 tags. I’m not convinced anymore it was Musicmatch – more likely I fat fingered something last time I was in Dr. Tag.
I appreciate the support – Firefly/Roku/HP MediaVault have been a great addition to my music management and enjoyment.
