Can’t rightly remember when I stared reading xing tags. Might have been after 0.2.4. If iTunes corrects it immediately upon starting, then that’s probably what it is.
You can either change to 2, and delete the songs.gdb and restart, or switch to nightlies. I think either of those will take care of it.
