It will still do the stuff it has to — if the db isn’t there it will still create it, or if the db is empty, it will still to a full rescan at start, just won’t do it if the db is already “right” and populated.
Yes, the randoms are transaction logs from crashed sessions. Probably from buggy 1313. 🙂
