In theory it should be possible to decode AAC protected songs with the help of Quicktime on a Mac, that has the rights to play the song, and pipe the uncompressed output to wavstreamer (or what else you use for ALAC transcoding on the Mac).
Would save us the hazels to burn CD and re-rip our legally purchased songs just to play them on our Soundbridge.

I had thought that they took that feature out? Am I wrong? If so, yes, a transcoder could be written. It’s really not an issue for me, as I haven’t bought any iTunes songs since they broke hymn.
I could always buy one and see if I can get it working, but it’s not super high on my list.
I’d be way happy to integrate something if someone had patches, though.
