Ah, but on the initial start up, the scan always happens. And if it doesn’t finish, or throws off an error, then you can’t access the web configuration screen to disable the scan!
You have to telnet in and manually edit the mt-daapd.conf file found at /opt/etc/mt-daapd/ using VI or by using another linux editor you install. There are some instructions at http://wiki.fireflymediaserver.org/NSLU2_Installation that describe how to manually edit the file.
