It did resort back to showing for 30 seconds aain when I entered this rule again:

iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 5353 -d 224.0.0.251 -j ACCEPT

hrm. Yeah, I guess so. I guess I was thinking that mcast appeared *from* the multicast address, but that’s obviously not right. So yeah, your rule should be the proper rule #2.
