I’ve been using mt-daapd for several years now (since well before it was called Firefly), and it occurred to me I’ve never given any feedback about how great it is! I currently have 29000 tracks served off a NSLU2 running Debian which I play using iTunes on a laptop through an Airport Express, and honestly I’ve never had major troubles! Admittedly, I guess I’m an advanced user since I’ve installed vanilla debian instead of unslung, I build nightlies from source by hand, etc.

Sweet… Thanks. 🙂

… hit the scan button in the web ui, and I am good to go (eventually, the NSLU2 is not exactly a speed demon at 266mhz even with the underclocking resistor removed)

That’s next on my list to work on. I think moving playlists back out of the db and restoring the gdbm backend should have a good effect on the performance of the slug. That’s that last major thing I want done before a stable release. Keep watching nightlies (once we’re past the file handling breakage), and I expect performance to improve substantially.
