I also get this behavior (on opensolaris nevada b62) but only in some cases – when a file scan is currently in progress, when my database is old (and a scan is needed), or when a scan has just finished. If I do a full scan and then restart the server (and the howl mdnsresponder), then it all works peachy.
How can I get you a backtrace?
