Hi
I’m trying to install Firefly on my new Slug to serve music to a wired Pinnacle Soundbridge and a wireless Roku Soundbridge.
I’ve managed to get to the stage where the Roku connects to Firefly, but the Pinnacle will not. I have suspected that this is due to the documented issues with the Pinnacle needing the nightly rather than stable version.
I’ve followed the Firefly wiki @ http://wiki.fireflymediaserver.org/NSLU2_Installation
However when I attempt to run the line
# echo “src firefly http://ipkg.fireflymediaserver.org/armeb” > /etc/ipkg/firefly.conf
I receive the following error:
wget: server returned error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
I sought advice on the Roku forum and it was suggested I could try to install the nightly manually which I did but I got similar errors. It now looks like the issue is more Firefly related than Roku so I thought I’d try and canvass further opinion and advice here.
The Telnet session was as follows:
# ipkg install /share/hdd/data/public/mt-daapd/mt-daapd_svn-1696-1_armeb.ipk

Failed to download libvorbis. Perhaps you need to run ‘ipkg update’?So, I ran ipkg update:

#I’m a complete novice to linux, telnet and NSLU2 so this is all very perplexing to me.
Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance

In your case this is ipkg.fireflymediaserver.org. Nothing you can do about that. You can however download the ipkg file directly from the http://nightlies.fireflymediaserver.org/
To use it just use “ipkg -i $filename.ipk”edit:
thx for pointing out the typo ๐11/06/2009 at 7:17 AM #18602EVILRipperParticipantnightlies.fireflymediaserver.org will probably work better. ๐

I did this, straight from the slug:
wget http://nightlies.fireflymediaserver.org/nightlies/svn-1696/mt-daapd_svn-1696-1_armeb.ipk
ipkg install mt-daapd_svn-1696-1_armeb.ipk
